What we collect
- Accountemail, display name, profile photo (optional), password hash.
- Travel datatrips you create, hostels you save, cities you're in, budget entries.
- Communityposts, likes, comments — visible to travelers scoped to your city or hostel.
- Deviceanonymized analytics on which pages load and errors that happen.
Why we collect it
To make the product work. Community needs a city so we can scope your feed. The budget tracker needs entries so we can total them. Trip Match needs your dates so it can find people on them. That's the whole reason — there is no secondary use.
Who we share it with
Only the partners we absolutely need: our payment processor, our infrastructure and database provider, and our email sender. Each one processes data on our instructions only. We do not share data with advertisers or data brokers.
Your rights (GDPR / CCPA)

- Deletesame place. 30-day hard delete, community posts anonymized so replies don't break.

Cookies
One strictly necessary cookie (your session), one preference cookie (theme), and one anonymized analytics cookie. No third-party marketing cookies, no cross-site tracking pixels.
Kids
Backpackr is not for under-16s. If you think a minor has signed up, tell us and we'll delete the account.
